One of the main objectives of the conference "Our Common Future" is to further the exchange of ideas between established and upcoming young researchers and decision-makers. Therefore, the hosts have invited young researchers from all over the world to take part in the conference:

The "Global Young Faculty", an international and interdisciplinary self-organizing network of about 100 young researchers, initiated and funded by the Stiftung Mercator, coordinated by the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities in Essen.

The Volkswagen Foundation offer up to 100 travel grants for highly motivated young researchers from all over the world to interact with the members of the "Global Young Faculty" and to participate in the conference "Our Common Future".
