Wolfgang Wahlster is Professor of Computer Science at Saarland University (Saarbrücken, Germany) and Director and CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).

He received his training in Computer Science and Liguistics at the University of Hamburg and was appointed Professor of Computer Science at Saarland University in 1982. Since 1997, Wolfgang Wahlster is Director of the DFKI.

He was awarded the German Future Award in 2001 and is member of the class for Engineering Sciences of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Wolfgang Wahlster has received many national and international honors and awards for his research contributions. His research focuses on language technology and intelligent user interfaces.
