
Jutta Limbach is the former President of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany. She received her doctorate in law in 1966 by the Free University of Berlin. In 1972, she was appointed professor of private law at the Free University. From 1987 to 1989, she was member of an academic advisory council at the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Jutta Limbach was the senator for Justice in Berlin from 1989 to 1994. From 2002 to 2008, she was President of the Goethe-Institut.
She was awarded several prizes including the Louise-Schroeder-Medal and has published many books on constitutional law as well as on German language and culture.
