
Fritz Klocke is head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) in Aachen as well as Professor of Manufacturing Technology and Co-Director of the WZL Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering at RWTH Aachen.
He studied manufacturing engineering at TU Berlin and subsequently worked there as research fellow (until 1981) and head engineer (until 1984) at the Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology. He received his engineering doctorate in 1982. From 1984 until 1994, Fritz Klocke worked in industry at Ernst Winter & Sohn in Hamburg. In 1995, he was appointed to his current post in Aachen.
His research focuses on cutting, forming, electro discharge machining, lasers and rapid manufacturing technologies.
